Call for workshops 

What is a workshop?

A workshop is a space for debate and co-development of ideas and approaches related to the advancement of research and practice within the field of Human-Computer Interaction. A workshop aims at gathering people with the expertise and the interest on the topic with the purpose of exploring new knowledge, challenges, opportunities on the workshop’s topics.  

The submission details

The Workshop Proposals (up to 4 pages excluding references) should be in eWics format, including references. Proposals should be self-contained and clearly provide a detailed workshop description including: title of the workshop, names and affiliations of the organizers, aim, objectives, benefits and significance of the proposed workshop, a scheduled overview of planned activities, organizers(s) background in a short bio.

Please specify also: 

  • Duration of the Workshop (half day or full day) 
  • Audience size: what is the preferred audience size? If you believe your workshop should be limited to a certain number for optimal effect, please state so. The minimal number of attendees is 8 (organizers not included). 
  • Workshop history: if the proposed Workshop has been organized previously, describe where it was given, the evaluation it received from attendees, and how it will be 
  • Audio/visual needs: Rooms generally include a projector, screen and computer audio 
  • Promotional strategy: a description of your advertising/promotional strategy for attracting attendees  
  • Post workshop plans: how to disseminate the results. 

Selection Process: Curated by an expert panel including the chairs 

Evaluation of proposals will be based on the following criteria: 

  • The potential for the workshop’s topic to generate engaging discussions and valuable outcomes. 
  • The organizers’ ability to present a well-structured plan that facilitates the workshop’s objectives. 
  • Ensuring a diverse range of topics within the Workshop program that aligns with the main conference’s themes. 
  • In cases of overlapping submissions, organizers may be advised to merge or distinguish them. 

Workshop proposals must refrain from including sensitive, private, or proprietary information not suitable for publication. Anonymity is not permitted, but confidentiality will be maintained throughout the review process. Rejected submissions will remain confidential indefinitely.

  • Submission deadline of workshop proposal: March 19th 21st April, 2024 
  • Notification of workshop acceptance: April 24th, 2024 
  • Call for Participation released by workshop organizers and website up and running: TBC
  • Participant submissions due: (on or before): TBC
  • Participants notified of acceptance: (on or before): TBC
  • Workshop day: July 15th, 2024
